Samuel P. Fleming Jr., a long-time resident of Little River County, passed away on December 17, 2017 at the age of 88. Samuel, the oldest of eight children of Samuel and Valerie Fleming is survived by his wife Grace of 66 years and numerous brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Fleming joined the Air Force in 1948, and honorably served 26 years. Fleming, a photo interpretation specialist, progressed rapidly through the ranks, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sargent. Fleming served during the end of the Korean conflict, Cuban missile crisis, and Vietnam War, where he was the recipient of two Bronze star awards. Fleming served around the world at locations in North Africa, Taiwan, Panama and numerous bases around the United States. Upon retirement, Fleming returned to Little River County where he worked in the family tractor business for over 20 years.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at Fleming Cemetery, Ogden, AR.
