My favorite memories of Mr. Herb are from way back when I held my first job at Shur-Way Grocery. Everyday he would come in to pick up his order to make the famous Herb Burgers. Nearly every day I got a "hello darlin" and a hug from Mr. Herb. Many meals and memories were enjoyed at Herb's with friends and family over the years. He always treated everyone with kindness and the respect that he would expect to receive. His

I went to work for Herb when he first opened his Cream Land.I
enjoyed working for him . The High School kids would gather
at Herb's to eat and it was fun waiting on them.
My brother T.J. Shelton and Herb were drafted into the Army and
met each other on the train going to boot camp and was in
boot camp together, they became real good friends kept in touch
even after they got out of the Army. T.J. really thought a lot of
Herb.

Our love and prayers are with the family,
Jerry & Joann Moore

Herb has to be one of the kindest and hardest working persons I've ever known.

Lots of great memories of hanging around a couple of the old Herb places with Lance, Greg and other friends when I was growing up.

My Prayers and Condolences to Herbs family.

Cruising town and going to Herb's for lunch were important rituals for teenagers growing up in the 60's and 70's. Herb McCandless was one of a kind and will be truly missed by many generations of teens.

I will never forget Herb. He has been around for as long as I can remember. My uncle Roger Bocox took me to Herbs when I was just a little girl and we attended the same church all of my childhood.

Herb knew no strangers and would do anything for anyone. There will never be anyone else like him. He was a true Christian and servant.

I was able to visit with him in May of this year when I

What a wonderful man Herb was! An icon in our small community and loved by all. I saw Herb last September at Jodie Carroll's funeral and we visited a little. he was such a wonderful servant, always wanting to help out in any way he could. I'll never forget when I ran into him at Brookshire's a few years back. He was so excited to see me as I do not come home very often. My parents had recently rejoined
